📚 Build your foundation
Learn networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP), operating systems (Linux & Windows), and one programming language (Python is best for security).
🧪 Practice legally
Use platforms like TryHackMe (free tier), Hack The Box, or PicoCTF. These are legal sandboxes where you practise on intentionally vulnerable systems.
🏆 Do CTFs (Capture The Flag)
CTF competitions are puzzle challenges involving real security techniques. Many employers specifically look for CTF experience. InCTF India and CyberHackathon are good starting points.
📜 Get certified
CompTIA Security+ is the global standard entry cert. After that, pick a path based on what you enjoy most (offence vs. defence vs. forensics).
🌐 Contribute and build a profile
Write a write-up blog for CTFs you've solved, contribute to open-source security tools, or do a bug bounty program. A portfolio matters more than a degree in this field.
