Multiply by 9, 99, 999...
Multiply a number by a run of nines without ever multiplying by 9
The Rule
- 1Works when the number has as many digits as there are nines (e.g. a 2-digit number × 99).
- 2Left part = the number minus 1.
- 3Right part = the next power of 10 minus the number.
- 4Write the left part followed by the right part (padded to match the digit count).
