Spot the pattern and predict the next term

The Rule

  1. 1Look at the difference (or ratio) between each pair of consecutive terms.
  2. 2If the difference is constant, it's an arithmetic series — keep adding that difference.
  3. 3If the ratio is constant, it's a geometric series — keep multiplying by that ratio.
  4. 4Apply the same rule to the last given term to find the next one.
