Doubling and Halving

Halve one factor, double the other, until it's easy

The Rule

  1. 1The product doesn't change if you double one factor and halve the other.
  2. 2Double the number ending in 5 (it becomes a round number) and halve the even one.
  3. 3Repeat until the multiplication is easy.
